THE CASTLE

ITS HISTORY

THE PROJECT

The Château le Fresne is located in Bouchemaine in the Maine-et-Loire region with all its 19th century charm where local history has rubbed shoulders with the grand history of aviation.

The renovation of this castle is a family project with the objective of welcoming you in this friendly and warm environment and listening to your desires.

We wanted to keep the historical aspect of this place by playing with a modern decoration but also using old materials and objects from the castle.

In addition, this castle was the former home of René Gasnier who lived there for several years until the end of his life. A space will be dedicated to him with the possibility to learn more about his life and his history.

RENE GASNIER

René Gasnier was born into a family from Anjou. He was a French sportsman but also one of the main promoters of aviation in France.

He participated in the birth of the Angers-Avrillé aerodrome and in 1910, he organised the first Angers-Saumur aeroplane race. René Gasnier’s aircraft is at the Musée Régional de l’Air in Angers-Marcé.

We warmly thank M.BLONDEAU of the Espace Air Passion Museum in Marcé, for sharing with us his passion as well as rich documents on the life of René Gasnier.
